Way-finding tool research
Poster Presentation at Resna 2018, View here
Diseases like Alzheimer’s dementia and traumatic brain injuries (TBI) are associated with loss of spatial orientation and compromises in memory, leading to an experience of feeling lost in unfamiliar as well as familiar environments depending on the stage of the disease or severity of the condition.
This study is an attempt to understand the effect of these challenges on formation of mental maps of environments and gather insights on challenges, concerns and opportunities in order to create a foundation or guidelines for design of a way-finding tool that facilitates safe exploration of outdoor environments for people with TBI and early stages of neurodegenerative diseases.

This research was conducted as my pre-thesis at University at Buffalo under the guidance of Mark Shepard and Edward Steinfeld.
This is an ongoing project. Check out this space again for more interesting updates on the project.
